| 12 Aug 2010 - Trophy : Bi-Weekly Trophy round-up: It was the Jack and Ian show at Darlington Speedway with the pair lapping the field on their quest for victory, Jack Keithley went onto win the race from Ian Smythe in second, with Jack's SRD team mate Chris Hill rounding out the podium.
When the series visited Indianapolis last week, pole man Dariusz Maksajda lead the most laps by quiet a way but was unable to turn his speed into victory, Keithley again took the victory from Mathieu Souphy in the runner up spot, the two SRD pilots working the draft to perfection to conserve fuel, while Maksajda had to make a late race stop for fuel which dropped him to 3rd.
Short tracks and short tempers usually go together - next race is Martinsville.

| 12 Aug 2010 - Indycars : B-Weekly Indycar round-up: With the entire race going green at Indianapolis, the Caldas pair worked the draft together to jump late race leader Dariusz Maksajda for Filipe to lead home from Carlos, in typical Indycar fashion the top 3 were covered by just 00.208 seconds.
It was a different story at Road America with Ian Smythe almost lapping the field on his way to victory, only Carlos Caldas managed to stay on the lead lap to come home 2nd with Andrew Jones rounding out the top 3.
Finally the Indycars ran under the lights at Milwaukee with Jim Turner surviving an early race spin to claim victory, Ian Smythe came in 2nd just 00.287 seconds back with Carlos Caldas rounding out the Podium.
This week sees the series run at Cleveland Airport temporary track followed by the fastest race of the year at Michigan International Speedway.

| 29 Jul 2010 - Indycars : The high speed multi discipline Indycar series made it's debut at V8 Thunder last Monday with a double header at Portland International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. At Portland a bizarre set of circumstances led to Carlos Caldas taking victory in the opening round. Ian Smythe lead the first 9 laps until blowing his engine, Dariusz Maksajda then took over the lead position before relinquishing it to Jack Keithley on lap 18, but as soon as Keithley got into the lead his clutch failed letting Maksajda back past to presumably cruize to victory, however in a cruel twist of fate Maksajda also blew his engine literally coming through the last corner in sight of the finish and was left to coast over the line while Caldas nipped past for the win.
Homestead was a far less hectic race, after an initial 2 early yellows to clear up after Keithley crashed in turn 4 on the opening lap and to sort out a restart problem, the race run for 41 laps under green with the top 4 swapping places almost every lap, the top 4 never being separated by more than a few tenths at 220mph! A late race yellow saw the race end under caution, with Dariusz Maksajda making up for the heartache of Portland by taking the win, Ian Smythe was second with V8 debutant Alex Arzamasov finishing the top 3. Dimon Borisoff and Paulo Duleba had V8 career best finishes with 4th and 5th respectively and Andrew Jones rounded out the top 6 after picking up damage avoiding the opening lap accident.
The series returns next Monday for it's only double length race of the season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. |
28 Jul 2010 - Trophy : After two weeks racing in the English Countryside at the Rockingham Motor Speedway and Mallory Oval, the Trophy series returns to it's American routes next week at the Lady in Black - Darlington Raceway. Chris Hill snatched victory from Jack Keithley at Rockingham with a bold move on the last corner of the last lap to take victory by just 0.27 seconds after 119 laps, Mathieu Souphy made it an SRD International 1-2-3 by rounding out the podium in 3rd. Keithley made up for the Rockingham loss at Mallory a week later taking victory by 0.56 seconds from Jim Turner with Ian Smythe back 7 seconds in third. With 6 races down and 6 to go, Keithley holds a 73 point lead over Andreas Scholz in the standings, with Rookie of the Year leader Dariusz Maksajda 3rd and Independent leader Ian Smythe 4th overall. WTR Motorsports Jim Turner and Paulo Rocha round out the top 6. |
01 Jul 2010 - Trophy : Andreas Scholz scored his maiden V8Thunder victory at Daytona International Speedway this evening, in only his 14th V8Thunder start, the German bringing his Ford home from 22nd starting spot. Tennessee County resident and series returnee Thomas Hendrickson came home second, with fellow American Jim Turner rounding out the top 3. The race was looking to be a fuel economy competition until a late race multi-car crash (involving Alex Pab, Chris Hill, Jack Keithley and Ian Smythe) appeared to change thing, however officials didn't throw a caution and it was back into fuel economy mode for the top 6 where most either run out on the last lap or opted to pit with 2 to go to ensure they finished, Paulo Rocha was the main looser opting to pit for fuel which dropped him back to 5th, Smythe came home a "lucky" 4th after his trip through the infield while Keithley recovered to 6th after his infield flight 6 from home, Chris Hill lost out most, the race leader at the time of the incident slipped to a 9th place finish after smacking the inside wall following the contact with Pab which triggered the crash. It' a trip over the Atlantic this week as the series visits the United Kingdom for back to back English races at the Rockingham Motor Speedway and the Mallory Park Oval the following week. |
24 Jun 2010 - Trophy : Jack Keithley scored his second triple at Nashville on Thursday, taking the pole, fastest lap and race win in convincing style, Portugal's Paulo Rocha pushed the English ace hard in the closing stages to bring his WTR-P car home second, with sister team WTR-E's Andreas Scholz bring his Germany based Ford home Third. Clashing World Cup football saw a reduced field of 18 drivers race, but there was still 11 lead changes between 7 of them. As winner Keithley put it, onto the lottery that is Daytona next week... |
