If you accept the consequences, yes.

No can of worms here to in my opinion. Dillon had a run and got blocked once then twice. Never lifting he hooked bumpers when reacting to the second block and Almirola got fenced.
Totally legit imo.
If you block like that on the last lap, you can't really expect a guy to lift. So it is not like he just dumped him. Almirola made him do it.

At least that is how a I see it, I may be wrong though.

Apparently the head on view they showed on NASCAR America or whatever it's called tells a different story but I haven't seen it, from what I understand it shows Dillon not even attempting to go round Amirolla and just hooks him into the fence, but as you say it was the last lap, none of us would do anything different in either of their positions.

Dunno, in my experience in real life I always do whats possible to make a clean move. Sometimes theres just no time to react and you take the other driver out. Can't say I've ever been like "f*ck it" and driven straight through someone and I'm not sure I could take any satisfaction from it if it was for a win. If it did happen I'd down right be like that was my bad, its not what I intended. Theres a difference between rattling someone's cage with a bit of argy bargy (v8t dega fall race) and downright driving through someone (what I do every week because I'm clumsy :lmao: )

Only 36 entries. Oh my, soon it'll be 35, then 34 and so on.
Not long after that, we'll be racing the hobby stock mod at Abandoned_Walmart_Parking_Lot_V8 or so. :(

Small fluctuations may be normal, but NASCAR's decline is not. While logical considering how NASCAR has been managed the last decade and a half, it seems incomprehensible at the same time.
I watch old races quite frequently, and I always think that had they not changed a thing since i.e. 1999, they would have been infinitely better off.
To some degree it has probably all been due to the nature of the meteoric rise of NASCAR.
Racing took a backseat, and everything became about making money.
You're not supposed to make money racing autos. Well, that's where NASCAR is headed.
And everyone working in the industry has to lose their job first. Until NASCAR is finally complete toast, and can be reset and reformed and start over and maybe try again.
Until then, they are desperately gonna try to milk every last damn cent outta this dying cash cow.

It's funny how the Cup race was so much less enjoyable to watch than this:

Those longruns where you can't use the throttle in the quadoval... Awesome. :D
The Cup guys may slide around just as much and even more at this place, but you don't see it from the same perspective. Nor does it ever seem they might not save it, since they are better drivers and all.

I found the cup race quite alright, except of course for the damn stages and stuff.

Time to repave I guess. Let's hope the dont ruin it in the process.

I think they should leave the layout it as it is, but they are probably gonna screw it up in yet another desperate attempt to make it "better".

Has there ever been a repave that made the track better? I think it usually goes like this:
Smoother surface -> fewer driver errors & easier to make the car depend on the splitter -> no racing

Certainly seems to go that way in the recent past, but that's NASCAR's fault, as usual.

I assume you mean no passing instead of racing. While that's a bummer with the suspension and ride height rules and stuff, we could at least have real races.

All we get are cars that cant pass on tracks smooth as glass with a bunch of bs yellows.

Theoretically, it would be possible to get rid of yellows, but I'm sure NASCAR has no interest in that.

The only repave I remember being a positive change was Homestead in 2003, when they switched it from a mini Indianapolis to a proper 1.5 miler with progressive banking, allowing for multi groove racing. That place definitely deserves 2 dates on the calendar.

Amazing how different opinions can be. I see that totally different, I think it was better before that repave.
I also dont think there was much similarity to Indy.
A really flat 1.5 miler was a cool track to have on the schedule.

There are other repave that were not horrible though. When Bristol went to conrete in 92. When Dover went to concrete, the track was better as well.
The most recent Kentucky repave was a good coice, because it was in horrible condition.

The worst repave in NASCAR history was undoubtedly the 2007 Bristol one, which made the number one ticket in NASCAR into a shitty event you would not regret missing. 11 years and they still don't bother correcting that mistake.
