This race was so bad.
They're so slow now, they can count the spectators while hammering down the front at 165mph.
Heck, they're so slow, that the need for yellow flags has practically disappeared, because the cars aren't fast enough to be a hazard to anyone anymore.
Probably the worst cup race I have ever watched.
These driver's have to be so frustrated. I wonder what keeps them from raising their voice. It can't possibly be 20,000 dollar fines. I bet NASCAR threatens their lives now.

Haven't watched the cup race, but you know, they banned the cup guys from racing in trucks and busch series, which is a shame, because I would love to have Kyle clock up even more wins hehehe.
But they gotta have cup guys in the booth at the races. So idiotic. The best drivers are now boothed and banned. lol

Funny how almost all the retirees end up working for the broadcasters and now compete for jobs there :lmao:
Or maybe it just sad.
Theyre not even taking them to the track it seems, they now have to sit back in the FS1 studio during the broadcasts.

No more weekly travel for Larry Mac and stuff

Wonder if he stops at some bar on the way home to drown the sorrow in cheap booze and watered downs beers :lmao:

McMurray and Labonte add some real value to these broadcasts, oh my....

Busch should have won, package sucks, a cup car with less than 700 horses is not a cup car.

Not much else to say. Busch, Harvick, Logano, Keselowski are gonna dominate the races with that package, theyre the biggest Busch whackers of the decade and Busch series skills are the ones you need with this.

Races have been closer on restarts and after 10 laps but then it's like 2018 all over again.

Off throttle time is minimal with this package and together with the reduced horsepower this makes a 2 second lead in 2019 the same as a 4 second lead in 2018. It is much harder to pull a huge gap but equally as hard to close one.
I don't care about closer gaps, look how boring the single file stuff was at Daytona for example, we want better racing.

The cars are on rails as well with this package which means drivers are losing control a lot less often, which in turn means fewer cautions. This means less opportunities for strategy and less restarts. Other than the stage end cautions there were no yellows for incidents.

I would scrap the stage cautions altogether because it has done nothing to improve the racing product. All it does is breaks up the race into thirds and drivers don't start racing until the last segment. If you want to do that, just have 3 sprint races that award maximum points.

As Kyle Petty said, we used to run 500 mile races because it was a challenge for any car to get to 500 miles without breaking down. We have long passed that, and I don't think today's audience can hold an interest for 3.5 hours, anymore especially with the racing how it is.

I would fix the cars by increasing HP, lifting the cars a couple of inches off the ground and do away with the splitters, moving them as close as possible to the 2002 - 2004 package. Even the GEN4 went off the rails a bit when teams started twisting the bodies for aero advantage.

I would scrap the stages, scrap the playoffs and have a double header at each meeting apart from the crown jewel events like the Daytona 500, Coca Cola 600, Brickyard 400, Southern 500. As they would have more races they could even then look at ending the season sooner as some teams have been complaining the off season is too short.

Agree with everything you say, although I'd also go as far as banning bump stops and removing the side skirts, do what the Late Models do, put the car up on blocks of wood under the wheels, wind the springs up and if the car doesn't touch the ground, it doesn't race - that way without the bump stops, you ensure the teams run realistic suspension setups and not the trick ones they've become addicted to.

Plus also set a minimum unladen ride height (with driver) of 5 inches from specific points, oh hang on, thise are the rules they had in the early 2000's, never mind, just ignore my toxic nostalgic fandom

I'm quiet sure it's just a matter of time before NASCAR goes full EA/Marvel and tells the fans "if you don't like it, don't watch", they've already gone down the "NASCAR isn't for rednecks" route so why not just go the whole nine yards and finish yourself off, seems to be the new way of doing thing, change things that don't need changing, tell fans to eff off when they complain then blame "toxic fans" for your own downfall you created yourself chasing a non-existent market/fan that isn't loyal nor brand aware.

Yeah, these suspension rules get forgotten by everyone, but are probably the main reason racing sucks beside stages and aero sensitivity.
They just corner too well, too efficiently, and it decreases the spectrum of possible ways to drive a turn, reduces weight shifting potential etc and all this leads reduced adjustability.
Makes it harder for guys to improve throughout the race, but also fade etc.

Shortening races overall is nothing I would like to see.
Would I cry if they turned Dega into 400 milers or turned one of the Bristol events into a double header of 300 laps each? Probably not.
But there's no point in hauling this giant circus around for 100 lap dash events.
Shortening the schedule a bit would make more sense.
NASCAR's overserving the viewerbase.

The stages however are the biggest issue for me now, nothing compares.
They completely f**k up the race dynamic every week.
If NASCAR was mine, I would say throw the green on the initial and do not interrupt the race until there's blood on the pavement of someone's begging for an ambulance over the radio.
We all remember the famouns Clint Bowyer spin at Richmond to manipulate the outcome of that race. Best example of a spin that didn't need a yellow.
Or that one time they threw a yellow, because someone slid up near the wall.
It's so ridiculous.
Theyre pros, they can drive around slow and stalled cars.

Man, Kyle Busch made them all look like rookies this weekend.

Hope he keeps that up

Vid doesn't start for me, but I can imagine lol. We'll see what NASCAR comes up with. I'm sure it'll make things worse

Man, that Kyle Busch guy, he just wan't stop winning.
I really hope he wins like 16 or 17 races, some crazy tall number in cup this year, and then doesn't take the title. That's gotta be the end of the play offs system :lmao:

Nice vid

Am I the only one who thinks NASCAR drivers are retiring way too early?
It came to me during the Fontana race when they checked back with the studio and had Jamie McMurray spill a few redundant sentences.
How pathetic I thought, reduced from a NASCAR star to 15 second sound bites that no one wants to hear.
You chose a career as a racecar driver and actually made it, so f****n drive a racecar!
Same with Elliott sadler, that guy is just 43, only one year older than McMurray.
Do these guys just want to sit on their porch till they drop dead?
I'd drive for as long as they let me, I tell ye!
Kenseth also, he has nothing left to prove and can actually drive races without any pressure, because he has enough money and would get other rides easily.
I would at least drive part time.
Only one I can understand is Junior, because of his head injuries. But these other bums should race till theyre 55 or so.

They can only race if a team wants to employ them.

Sure, though Kenseth had offers he declined for lack of competetiveness.
If I was him I was him or McMurray I would at least run a Nationwide season, see if a half assed attempt can get me the title.

Man, that was a green race at Mville. Low car count may have helped that.
Seemed like passing has never been tougher.
Too bad Kyle Busch didn't win, but Brad certainly earned this one

race seemed to show pretty well how little adjustability is in these cars.

Did they get rid of the in-car track bar adjustment feature? I heard them mention something along those lines

I believe they did as part of the cost cutting measures (remember all the changes are as a result of the teams council, not NASCAR).

Actually I find the schedule not as controversial as David Land made it out to be, although he is right on some of the clashes it creates that might hurt some venue, but not my problem lol

The double header comes as a surprise, sure. But two races in a weekend isn't gonna piss me off
So fine with that. Races at ISM haven't been too shabby imo, short and spicy imo. So there are worse venue for the finale.
Time for Homestead to repave by the way.
Only thing I really don't like about this schedule is that they kept Charlotte roval on it, but I can live with it.
At least they didnt add another roval :lmao:
I think they should give Bristol a third date and run a double header for the fall races, running two 375 lappers on one weekend and keep the Food City 500 a 500 lapper.

For once a change that I like, because I didn't like when they added they feature.
Now its, kinda oldschool again with track bar changes only happening on pit stops again, as it used to be, so yea, kind in favor of this one.

NASCAR really doesn't like Pocono does it? On the weekend of the Watkins Glen race is the Pocono 500 Indycar race, I guess that is the equivalent of Brands Hatch hosting MotoGP and Croft World Superbikes on the same day geography-wise (I'm not sure the distance between the two tracks) but NASCAR seems intent on screwing Pocono out of their race, it's not like Pocono is going to be able to treat the Saturday and Sunday as separate events and charge $50 for each day - or can they?

I doubt they can. Also there are stromg rumors that Pocono will gone from Indycar schedule and there will not be race next year. So Pocono will be left with just one major race weekend in 2020.

I also don't like date swap between second Daytona and Indy.
